Hey All, I have a chance to pick up a Stanely Sig. Deluxe from someone in another state (I know the guy personally, so no worries there)... Ive been thinking about a short scale alembic for quite sometime now. I already own a series I, but have never picked up a sig. deluxe before. Can anyone familiar with these give me an idea as to what I can expect from the sig deluxe (tone, playability, etc)... |

I've never played a Stanley version but I do have a 3/4 omega MK 32" scale deluxe. I play it more than my S-2. Sounds great, feels great and is easy on the shoulder. |

Had one for a time, Great variety of tones, extremely comfortable. If you can get around ona 34 you will fly on a 30. I still have a Stambaugh 32 with sig guts that can give me a little of that feeling. You may have to experiment with straps because there can be some neck dive. Go for it. |

I've had a Stanley Sig Deluxe for about a year and a half. It's, of course, a great instrument, with a panoply of sounds (although I don't have an internal comparison of it versus a Series bass) ranging from booming to glassy to quacky to "digital"-sounding. Man, with the pickups set to 20% neck, dimed bridge, both q's flicked, and played with a plectrum, this thing zaps through walls of distorted guitars without difficulty. Playability: the biggest thing for me to adjust to was squeezing my fingers between the frets above the level of about the fourteenth...if you've got big hands, you've really got to work on your dexterity and precision when handling this short scale thing. And, Dannobasso is very right: neck dive if you wear the strap high, but comfortable sitting down. Overall, my Sig Deluxe is a beaut, and I'll be holding onto it for a while. Here's to your acquiring one. Will d. www.theglaive.com |

I have a Series I and went out to buy a SC Deluxe last year. I wasn't impressed. Now don't get me wrong, I loved the bass, the look, the feel, the sound (even if the bottom end was a little lacking) but it just didn't cut it compared to the Series I. It sounds better than some of the other basses I have or should I say, sounds different but I would have loved it for a short while and then be forever comparing it to the Series Electronics. If I wasn't a patient man then I would have bought it but my money is better reserved for a Series II and if I'd have blown a huge chunk on the SC then the S2 would be further away. Now an SC with S2 electronics would certainly hit the spot! |
