I just sent out the funds today-it should arrive early next week. It's a Series I, S/N 75-246. Specs: Lacewood top, maple body, peroba rosa back, maple/walnut neck, ebony fingerboard. 34" long scale Zebrawood peghead lams Pretty standard, but cool nonetheless. I can't wait! Thanks again to John (811952) who got me started on this whole thing by letting me play his Series late last year. Some pics: (Message edited by davehouck on August 15, 2007) |

Aside from the overall beauty of the bass, I love that headstock; congrats. Ellery (Lowlife) |

Thanks, guys. I can't wait for it to get here-I'm not too worried about it making the trip from CA, as it's coming in an ATA case, so all should be well there. It feels great to join the family after almost a year's time, and it should be well worth the wait! |

There's nothing standard about a Series bass. Congratulations! |

Thanks again! I do have one question-will this bass fit well in a generic hardcase, or do I need something special due to the wide lower bout? I can't haul the flight case around where I go to school, and I've been looking into some more light-duty cases that I can carry with less trouble. Any recommendations outside the standard G&G affair? Chris |

I was going to suggest Hiscox if they're available in the states but you may have problems getting something to fit due to the point. congratulations on a superb bass BTW. graeme |

I've got a Hiscox that I use for my other bass. I've even got super gig bags, but the problem seems to rest with the Point----it just doesn't fit in to anything "standard" G |

It will take a larger gig bag or case. I'm about ready to look into skb keyboard cases to see if a long-scale SI point might fit one.. John |

I'm also fan of the headstock-it seems to be birdseye Zebrawood, almost. I'll see what the deal is with the ATA case when it arrives-if I can fit it on a small luggage cart, I might just hold on to it, but I'll make sure to take some measurements and see what's on the mass market that'll fit. |

The bass should ship out tomorrow-it took the payment a little longer to clear than expected, but it's no big deal. The seller's also including a Reunion Blues bag for the bass, so I don't need to find a case. I'll make up a proper thread in the intro section when it gets here and I have some pics. It's coming with an Anvil flight case as well-I just don't feel like walking everywhere with it, which is pretty much my situation while I'm at school. For proper travel, I'll use the Anvil. (Message edited by 82Daion on August 22, 2007) |

It might surprise the Fedex guy a little if I greeted him with those. :D On the other hand, the bass/case combo weighs nearly 70 pounds as shipped-I think the unlucky soul who has to haul it up to the porch might appreciate a little something extra. ;) ETA is Wednesday. The seller has the original wood card/documentation somewhere, so I might be receiving that in the near future as well. |

It's here, and it's incredible-it's everything I was expecting and more. This one will be with me for a long, long time. There's pics in the Showcase and Introductions threads. |

I'm enjoying the heck out of this thing. It's truly the bass sound I had in my head. This one will need the electronics upgrade eventually, but I can live with it for now, and the case needs some work, but those are minor issues. I'm really glad I sprung for it. |

Chris, if you haven't done so already, go here and follow the procedure for adjusting the hum cancelling trim pots to reduce noise. |

Dave, thanks for the link-I have adjusted the humcancelling pots and have most of the noise alleviated, but there's still some nasty HF content that I can't seem to eliminate, especially from the bridge pickup. The symptoms match Mica's qualifications for the upgrade exactly, and there's not much I can do about it at the moment, but the hum isn't audible when playing, so it's not that big an issue for now. |
