Installing an adjustable nut

One of the things I like is the adjustable nut. I also have a '76 Series 1, which was built before adjustable nuts. Any body know what it takes to fit an adjustable nut on that bass? After it's fabricated, replacing it would be just like replacing any other brass nut, I would think. I assume there is one or more threaded inserts to be installed as well. I would assume that regular brass nuts are glued on.
