Hi everyone I own a splendid Warmoth Jazzbass with active electronics and Bartolini pickups. The bass frequencies are good but the trebbles are quite poor - Not very suitable for slap style (though it sounds great played unplugged). I was wondering if replacing the pickups + electronics by a pair of Alembic pickups + filter would help to improve the general tonal sound of my Warmoth. Would the sound be clearer ? Has anyone here ever replaced his Jazzbass electronics with an Alembic set ? Is it worth the money ? Thanks for your replies. Cheers. |

I put an Alembic PJ set on my 83 Squier and it transformed the sound 1000%. I fitted the 2x vol, bass & treble controls. Yes it was definitely worth it..especially for slap technique |

I've got a P/J set in my Fender Prodigy with a single preamp, filter and Q-switch. Not 100% Alembic sound but a great back up and for those dark, smokey pubs a great substitute for "the real thing" MP 3 link (Message edited by fc_spoiler on August 23, 2007) |

Edmouk, I have no doubt that swapping the barts for a set of activators would enhance your enjoyment of that bass. In fact, I have a set of Alembic J's just waiting for such a project, if I ever get around to it!!!! |

Pace - get them Alembics in..you will not believe the sound transformation!!!! when you do adjust the level trimpot on the bridge p/up with more gain, I had to on my set as the precision style p/up is really powerful. |
