Sound difference... MXY's VS. "J" Act...

I have an Elan 6 and a Prodigy also. I gigged with the Prodigy Sat night and it rocked the house through my AMPEG BXT 115 and SWR 550X amp. The Elan is so squeaky clean by comparison. The Prodigy is easy to overdrve the input stage if I am not careful to set it low.
