I was doing my usual eBay Alembic search of completed basses. This cat picked up this 91' Like New... Essence for $800.00 (buy it now) + ship. It took a whole 3min 44sec to sell. I just can't believe someone would sell one so CHEAP!!! http://cgi.ebay.com/1991-ALEMBIC-Essense-4-four-string-Bass-guitar_W0QQitemZ300162041901QQihZ020QQcategoryZ4713QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem |

The price was probably held down by the graffiti. Peter |

I'm sure that Stanley Clarke's and Stewart Copeland's signatures can be easily buffed out. ;) |

This is the exact same model as the '92 Essence I just paid $1400 for! It was also covered with reggae star autographs (on the back) but they all came off easily with rubbing alcohol (for the ink) and Ronsonol lighter fluid (for the strapping tape residue that was covering the signatures). I now have a very beautiful instrument and my bandmates rave about the sound every time we play. I wonder who is giving these signed basses away... Mike |

Animal Logic, man wouldn't this world be a better place if their attempt to appeal to a pop audience had succeeded. Some really great tunes. Great Alembic usage, as well. |

Now the cat's got it on TalkBass for $1550 + shipping! .... too bad he's not keeping it, kind of sucks... buying it just to sell it, while keeping someone else from getting a deal on something that they would cherish! IMO BTW... he removed the Deborah Holland and Stewart Copeland signatures... seems that the Clark signature is didn't come off, OR deceided to keep it. (Message edited by ubado on November 01, 2007) |
