Can someone tell me if the Alembic jazz bass type pickups will work with another brand of eq?for instance Bartolini, are the pickups active,or could i just use them in a standard passive jazz bass?thanks . |

The pickups are low impedance and require an onboard preamp. |

The pickups most definitely do not need voltage, however the preamp does - that's why the 9V connector is attached to one of the circuit boards in the picture that Keavin posted. You need a preamp because the Alembic pickups are low impedance, which is a mismatch for any instrument cable (which will be high impedance). You'd need to check if the preamp is designed to handle low impedance pickups. |
