Guys,

can you please give your thoughts regarding the Orion 5 string. Because I'm thinking to get that bass. Thanks

Very nice, well balanced bass. Controls are volume, pan, bass and treble (in standard configuration). One of the distinguishing elements to an Alembic bass, IMO, is the low pass filter. This is not standard on the Excel, Epic or Orion models. It is standard on the Essence and other models. I love the styling of the Orion and it very well might be what you are looking for but you might want to try an Essence to experience what I think is the soul of an Alembic.

Just my $0.02

I have an Orion 5 with the Essence electronics and Q switch. I find it plays and balances well.

I also own a 4 string fretless Orion with the East Meets West electronics. This happens to be my favorite bass. The EMW package is a combination of standard Orion electronics wedded to a filter and Q switch. The EMW is very versatile in it tonal range.

Did you order the filter and Q-switch from the Alembic Store? How much were they?

Firman,
I have sent a reply to your note. In short both basses were ordered from the factory with the electronics installed. I did add the Q-switch to the 5 string myself after I had purchased it.

Hi Firman,
I sent you an email, welcome to the club!
The Orion is a set neck model, unless the one you are considering is a custom build. A set neck adds warmth, and can compete in sound to many other guitars used in the industry and recording studios. You will not be disappointed!
It is one of my personal favorite body shapes.
Kris
