Just picked up my Mark King Signature and need to restring..I usually use DR's 45-125 and was wondering if Alembic's acted better with a slightly lighter gauge like 40-120 or my standard mediums should be fine.. |

Hey, Jon, Congratz on the new MK. Play her in good health! I've had my new Signature for a month now, and I sent Mica DR Hi-Beam 45-125's to put on it from the mothership. They play and sound awesome, and IMHO, they would be just fine on your new MK. You don't need anything lighter. The Alembics play great anyway, and the DR's just "add" to that. If you look in the archives, there are a mind-boggling number of posts on string choices. If ya have a couple days to kill, look some of them up. Interesting reading and opinions... Have fun, Mike, tho..... |

Hey Mike, We are definitely on the same page...I just put a set of DR High beams on 45-125 and the bass is absolutely unreal...The neck pulled up to almost perfectly flat and she play like butter.. I do wish the bridge had independent string hight adjustments because I would like to flatten out my string radius slightly more than the way it is factory set but other than that I am in total bliss. Thanks bro |

Jon, I'm probably telling you something you already know, but the bridge is machined to match the fingerboard radius. So long as you have your neck properly adjusted you should be able to get even action across the fretboard. Out of curiosity- why do you want a flatter string radius? Toby |

I totally understand the design concept but a flatter radius just feels better under my fingers I may slightly file down the E-A and D string saddles to my liking if in a few weeks I have not become totally comfy..Not a big deal. |
