After a few days of playing my new Spyder I discovered this distrurbing snarrling sound:
I discovered it while having the bass unplugged and not directly to my body but a few cms away on my wrist and then I plugged the string and there was a strong resonant snarrling sound on the A and D string. When I take the bass close to my body it is gone and also when I plug the string(s) fretted. As said, this is completely gone when I have the bass close to my body. I am quite sure that this comes from the front pickup and I tried to adjust it but nothing happens.
Of course you donīt hear this sound when the bass is amplified, and also if unplugged played normally close to your body. Only when it is a bit away from the body it starts this snarrling sound.
Anyone can help me?
But otherwise this instrument is grreeeaattt...

Many thanks

Problem solved!
Man the Spyder resonates like hell!
The brass plate from the pickup selector routing
on the lower horn was a little loose and this was the reason that it vibrated and due to the huge resonance of the bass it sounded so strong.
Now, problem solved, screws tightened!

This bass is the best I have ever held in my hands.

Many greetings

Put that bass down, you've played it too much!!!! Ha, ha, ha,
Glad you've solved the problem.

Hi Mattheus,

of course!
I am there like every year...
By the way, what amp/system are you using?
I am thinking about some new stuff,
big and bold matching the Spyder.

How much did the Spyder cost you? It's really tempting, like most of the Alembics, but the prices for the other ones make it hard for a college student to afford, but allegedly this one's less expensive.
