I have a few questions about my Rogue 5. The neck is 1.75" at the nut and 2.36 at twelve. It took a while to get used to the spacing. The smaller spacing in between chords gets better with use. It becomes faster, I always liked smaller faster necks. I love the alder body for the tone I like. If I put D"Addario medium guage strings on it [XL 160-5] in stead of light guage strings on it would the guitar have to be adjusted? |

You pretty much need to adjust the neck anytime you change the strings dramatically. Don't worry - use Joey's guide for setting up your bass and you'll love playing it even more. Heavier strings will pull more forward bow into the neck, so you'll be tightening the truss rods to counter. Think of the strings pulling one way, the truss rods the other way. An Alder body is pretty unusual. I actually don't remember us making a Rogue with one, but then again, my memory ain't what it used to be (motherhood!). |

Thanks for the reply, Mica, I'll have Rob over at Custom Guitar and Bass adjust it for me. He has worked on Alembics and does work for well known professionals. For thirty bucks its worth it. How much deeper of a sound will the medium strings make? I run it through an F-1X and I'm trying to make full use of the deep sounding Aguilar GS 112's. Date of completion was 6/16/98 #98Q11591 |
