Looks like Padduk to me. Forgive me if I spelled that wrong. I could be wrong, but I own two basses with that wood. The grain looks very similar. Usually bubinga is one of the woods you think of that they use on the back of a warwick necks long with wenge. I'm sure you'll find out soon enough if you ask about the serial number. Good luck! I'm very curious. (Message edited by andbassforall on October 04, 2008) |

Yea thanks, I looked up "Padauk" and it is also known as Vermillion, imagen that. I think you are right. I did the serial number request some time ago and am still waiting. Whatever it is I like it! Very thick grain, very hard. |

Brian, As far as I can tell from the picture, it doesn't look like the bubinga I have seen. Here is a pretty representative pic of my bubinga Epic. Welcome to the board. Rich http://alembic.com/club/messages/411/17267.html?1159397078 |

very nice, both. I have looked at alot of pictures and have noticed that on many of the Epics; different types of wood look red, stained I assume? I guess I will just have to wait a few months to find out what the record is. |

I would have thought that Epic could be walnut and the red tinge is coming from it being surrounded by a maroon case interior. |

hieronymous - your laminate is much darker than mine but you can still see the flame. I guess no two same woods are the exactly alike. |
