I'd like to try most of the Tribute's electronics in another guitar: two humbucker size pickups, one filter per pickup, and a bright setting for each pickup. No effects loop. The purchase information at the Alembic web site says: HG/AE-1 volume, filter, 3-way 1050 (two humbucker shaped pickups) It looks like this doesn't include everything I want, and it doesn't explicitly mention the preamp. I guess I'm a little confused. How do I purchase what I'm looking for here, and any idea what the price would be? |

Alembic pickups (low impedence) need Alembic preamps to work properly, and I am almost 100% sure Alembic won't sell the pickups without the pre unless it was a replacement repair pickup for an already mounted circuit. You said it comes with "volume" (pot mounted on circuit board and "filter" (low-pass filter pot mounted on circuit board) and a 3 way switch. Sounds complete to me. List price should be on the Alembic web. Check with local dealer for your discounted price. Kris |

Thanks, but can anyone tell me for certain whether or not the preamp is included in the price on Alembic's web site for a pair of humbucker sized pickups? I'm also almost 100% certain because it would make sense for the preamp to be included, but I posted the question because I want to make sure and the web site doesn't say. It also doesn't look complete to me because it says two humbucker shaped pickups, but only one filter. I want one filter for each pickup, just like on my Tribute. It also doesn't say whether or not there's a way to get the bright function on each pickup, but the Tribute has a separate bright function for each pickup. EDIT: And I quoted the list price: it's 1050. (Message edited by jimmythesaint on October 17, 2008) |

Activators are a 2 pickup one filter mono set up. If you want 2 filters, that is a custom circuit. And yes, I am certain the poreamp is included. The AE-1 IS the preamp. Check for local Alembic dealer to get discount off List price of $1050.00. Kris |

OK, thanks. I didn't know how they named their guitar preamp. But it appears I'm going to have to call Alembic because I didn't know this was a custom circuit, and it would appear the bright function is yet another custom option. |
