The November 08 issue of the German "Gitarre und Bass" magazine has a showcase on that wonderful Japanese-built bolt-on headless violin-shaped Alembic of the early 1980s. Features that were new to me: it has a single ebony laminate in the neck, the bridge saddles and part of the bridge/anchor are made from wood, and the fretboard clears the E string above the 20th fret - "for a better slap sound". Apparently the string locking at the far end of the neck is a bit tricky. (Message edited by adriaan on October 31, 2008) |
