The November 08 issue of the German "Gitarre und Bass" magazine has a showcase on that wonderful Japanese-built bolt-on headless violin-shaped Alembic of the early 1980s.

Features that were new to me: it has a single ebony laminate in the neck, the bridge saddles and part of the bridge/anchor are made from wood, and the fretboard clears the E string above the 20th fret - "for a better slap sound".

Apparently the string locking at the far end of the neck is a bit tricky.

Very strange...I've never seen any details about those.If you have the magazine could you scan the page? ...a rarity for sure.
