Just got my first Alembic!!!!!! It is awsome!!!! It is a six string custom bass 86S3908 and is in amazing condition. The strings on it were very light (the G and C were not even wound like the old Fender six string bass sets) probably as lignt as 20 or 22 on the C string. Replaced them with Elixer lights and the bass jumped to life! the sound is amszing and the action is as well! The slots for the strings on the tailpiece are very narrow and I had to flatten the ends of the Elixers to get them to fit. Just looking for some ideas as to what the original guage of strings might have been and any other information that might be available. The bass apparently was purchased by the original owner in Germany and that is where I got it from. Any information would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance. Regards, Michael. |
