Thanks, Peter. One of the best guitar players I know only plays the old Melody Maker -- with the body style in your link -- that he's had since he was a kid. I have also seen some Melody Makers with the SG body style. Like this one.  This is not a hijack of this really neat threadbecause the Melody Makers were student model guitars! Have y'all seen the reissues? You can get a USA Gibson Melody Maker for $350 +or- (Message edited by 57basstra on April 27, 2009) | ||

OH boy,,,, apologies for the dated, fuzzy photos  My son Maxwell with my now sold Exploiter :-(  Max again, with my still present Distillate  Max with his very own first bass.  My daughter Amber at the piano. Both Amber and Max are in their twenties now, I need to find more recent photos. . . Max is still playing bass (rather well) and has a sweet black jazz bass. | ||

Peter, 1966 (I think) until about 1970 (I think.) Gibson also had the double cutaway Melody Makers at this time. Gruhns has had two of the 60ish SG Melody Makers recently and both were gone before I got a chance to try them out.
