The value of this bass could vary widely depending on one's perspective. For me, this bass appears to be more of a project than I would want to take on. Again for me, at the very least the bass would have to be sent back to Alembic for cavity shielding, new electronics, refinishing, and attention to the headstock repair. But that's just me; this bass may be a diamond in the rough for someone who sees its potential. It doesn't appear to be an Alembic but rather an employee project; but the basic body and neck look good, and I could see where someone could send this bass to Alembic and for maybe $1,500 to $2,000 have them work their magic and get back a very nice bass. On the other hand if you're patient you can probably pick up a used Series I for $2,000. So for me, it just wouldn't be worth the trouble. In the other thread, Michael alluded to the fact that the thing to do is to plug it in and see what it sounds like; that for all we know this bass may already have a great tone and not need to be sent back to Alembic. I really don't feel that I know enough to give any kind of useful appraisal; I can only tell you that for me it doesn't seem worth the additional costs that might be required.
