When I purchase an Further, would there be a charge for swapping out different laminates for the neck? E.g. keeping the purple heart but switching out say the cherry for vermillion? Or perhaps making it the same sequence of wood as the "kit" guitar but of course neck through? Obvious a choice such as ebony would cause a rise in price. What about the body core wood (maple>vermillion)? I hope this is the right place for these questions. As I am a year away from ordering I thought it would be better to ask here than call the mothership as I know they are super busy. Cheers!

Colin, try emailing Mica. That said, I'm almost positive swapping cherry for vermillion would be no charge. A vermillion body would probably be no charge; a maple one might even save you a few bucks. You can use the quote generator to get an idea of what various woods might cost.

Good Luck!

Colin:

I did just that on my Further, swapping out the PH in the neck and body core for Vermilion. There was no extra charge.

Bill- just for my own edification, why did you decide to swap out the purpleheart for vermilion in the body core and neck?

Colin:

I've found that Alembic guitars have no problem sounding bright with mucho presence. I wanted something that might be a little warmer and Susan suggested vermilion instead of PH.
