So I picked up an F-1X a few weeks ago and have been working my way through my herd checking out how the different basses respond through it on gigs. The majority so far have sounded excellent with minimal tweaking and EQ - these included both passive and active types (the passive Fenders love it and the ones with flats..wow). A couple of the others (actives) needed more massaging - these were always kind of fussy anyway. Like anything else certain things go together better than others. My Ditillate with Spoiler guts sounds pretty good too, though I find it to be a bit scooped through this pre. I prefer it with more kick in the mids - through my GK it really sounds killer. This past Saturday I had a double - two outdoor gigs a couple of hours apart, 3 sets each with a sparkling forecast ahead, so I finally took out the MK Standard for the day. I don't usually do that in these situations because it's pretty heavy. I can do one gig all right but 2 in a row will really make me feel it in my back. But I wanted to finally get it through the F-1X and figured I'd heal up yesterday. In a word - Holy Crap!!! It (bass and rig) sounded wonderful! Rich, defined, articulate - it held up the bottom and everything sang. Even the boys in the band noticed and they're pretty jaded at this point. We don't reinforce and rely on stage levels so it's important for me to get what I want right there. This was it. I'm not into zingy and I don't slap - this was the kind of set-it-and-forget-it tone that worked in every song. I'm lovin' it. I realize I'm preaching to the choir here, but I had to say something to someone that would appreciate it. Actually had a guitar player come up to me and tell me the bass sounded incredible...how often does that happen?!! Anyway, my 2 cents plus. The "new" Rogue with Signature guts comes in tomorrow - I am very anxious indeed to get it out on this weekend's gigs! Report will follow. Will |

Will -Keep preaching! I currently am dreaming of an F-1X (with a couple of Bag Ends). So it is good to hear feedback about how truly sweet it is! |
