Just got my first Alembic bass, it a 2000 Excel that may have been here before but for me it's band new. This is well worth the money and wait. Can't wait to try her out at my next outdoor gig.

Ronald -
Welcome aboard!
This is a good forum for sharing stories and asking for opinions...

Got any pictures of the back? (sorry it's kind of a fetish of mine... I love the beautiful tops and all but something about the backside of an Alembic gets me ooooh'n and aaaah'n).

More pics indeed : )
that must be this one.

Conrats on your purchase, I bet its hard to put it down. You don't see many with the exotic fretboards.

Here the spec and some more pics.
*5 piece maple neck w/ walnut stringers, 34", 24 frets

*Pau ferro fingerboard, 18 mm spacing center-to-center

*Adjustable brass nut (an under-appreciated bonus IMO)

*Gotoh tuners, Alembic brass bridge / tailpiece (fixed radius)

*Ash body (spec. sheet says maple but it sure looks like ash to me)

*Canarywood top laminate w/ matching ka-nobs

*Single "Fat Boy" pup w/ volume / bass / treble

*Adjustable pre output trim pot in control cavity

*Weight: ~9.25 lbs, very well-balanced

*Dual truss rods, adjustable at heel

*Dunlop strap locks installed by your's truly

*Hardshell case in excellent condition

*Overall condition: 9.5 / 10

Let us know how you get along with this bass- I really like the Canarywood top on it. That single 'Fat Boy' combined with the set neck should make for a killer, punchy tone.

Enjoy!

Beautiful bass! I too am a new owner (Essence) and just love it. Great bunch of folks here too, and a VERY informative bunch of maintenance and setup tips, which just enhances the overall ownership experience. Enjoy, and if you're like me, after two weeks I haven't been able to put it down!

Nice looking bass. Pretty top wood, too. I'd love to have a medium scale Excel built someday. You're making me jealous.

Just to let you know I really got to play my Excel and was over joyed. Now this will be my main bass and I'm thinking of letting go my other bass, It nice but not as nice as this Alembic. The neck is prefect in everyway and it's well balance, the tone unreal. Wish I had one years ago, just a nice bass to play and I had to stop myself from playing the thing.
