The Distillate was not really discontinued, more like dropped from the catalog. We still make them on custom request.

The reason we drop models from time to time is usually a reflection of the current style. Distillates are 32" scale by default, and we felt we didn't need 2 standard models in medium scale (at the time, Spoilers were in the brochure too).

By the mid 90s, more and more customers were going l-o-n-g-e-r with 35" and 36" scales (we even made one 38" scale) and the medium scales fell out of fashion.

But nothing is ever really discontinued, we just have to keep the brochure down to about 16 pages.

Thanks for the Info, Mica. Do you plan to have Infos about all available base models on the Alembic website sometimes ? At least here in Europe Alembics are very rare to find and your website (and the Alembic club of course) seems to be the only source of information.
