Is the Super Filter a rack version of the Series Electronics ? Why theres no mid boost on your preamps ? Never think in offer a DI ? | ||

Hi Joe; I believe one of the main differences between the SF-2 and Series electronics is that while Series electronics have a low pass filter for each pickup, the SF-2 can be configured for band pass and/or high pass as well. Alembic openly acknowledge that their preamp designs were influenced by old Fender designs - not very hi-fi, but very musical and have stood the test of time. Mid cut, rather than boost, is a feature of those old circuits. If you want ultimate tone shaping flexibility you need an SF2. You could achieve mid boost either by setting one filter as band pass and centring it in the mids, or you could apply cut to the bottom and top by setting the filters as high and low pass respectively. There is a DI on the F1X preamp. |
