I was in a local music shop yesterday, just browsing and saw an ashdown superfly 2x8 500w bass cab in the sale going quite cheap.

I wonder if it would be a useful addition to crispen up the top end on my bi-amped rig?

At the moment I have all mesa cabs and I read somewhere on this forum that Mesa cabs are all full range so I wonder if this would be useful or a waste of cash?

Does this also mean I'm having GAS?

They're 8" woofers, not tweeters. HIH.

I struggle with"GAS" on a daily basis. This 2x8 box would be interesting in a TRI-AMPED configuration! I am about to experiment with a TRI-AMPED system.1/18 , 2/15 & 4/10's I have a few different active crossovers that I will be experimenting with at different crossover frequencies .I might be using 3 old Yamaha P-2200 amplifiers and a variety of signal processing rack gear. SEE what I mean I have serious GAS !

I might also try substituting an 8x10 box instead of the 2x15's.That would be a total of 12x10's with a single 18 in triamp.

Go for it, Wolf! A friend of mine used to run tri-amped - a single 18 of unknown provenance with an SVT 8X10 cab modified to replace the middle 4 10s with a 15. Ashley preamp & Furman x-over (or maybe the other way - it's been almost 30 years); Yamaha (forget the model - whatever was 2X250 back then) for 18 & 15, power section of an Accoustic 360 for the 10s. It was amazing. He had been running 2 SVT 8X10 cabs, & was blown away by the difference big speakers made ("...8" woofers" - that phrase only makes sense to me if you put a 1 in front of it :-))
