I am currently playing through an F-1X and a 410 Bergantino cabinet. I want to add another cabinet and am leaning towards a Accugrove Whappo Jr 212 in combination with the Berg. Has anyone tried this set up? Or should I just go with another 410 Bergantino? Any opinions out there???

Thanks

If you are planing on bi-amp mode a 2/10 cabinet might work well for the upper end with the 4/10 for the lows .

If it were me I would get an 18" For bottom or another Bergantino 4x10 for bottom. But a 2x10 is not a bad idea for top end.

Funny you should mention the 18" 4x10 combination I have been running my rig like that for years. Recently ran full range and the Berg comes alive. Much fuller sounding and the frequency response sounds so much better in full range then in bi-amp mode. The problem is the Berg is so much louder then the 18" (SWR Big Ben Cabinet with 4 ohm JBL) it doesn't work well in full range. Seems one cabinet cancels out the other. I'm just going with another Berg AE 410. Running two of these cabinets full range should be the bomb....

Sonicus nice setup. Are you running the cabs bi-amped or full range? That setup just doesn't seem to work for me in full range mode.

It probably cancels out because it takes so much power to get that 18" to start moving some air. What I use is 1 QSC 2450 for my top end and another QSC 2450 for bottom, and I use the Superfilter for the bottom end and 2 F1-X's for the top end.

Wow that's some serious power I'm sure it sounds pretty awesome. It's also a lot of gear to haul. I'm running about 1500 watts into both cabinets. Most of the gigs for me lately are one nighters so I'm actually trying to cut down on the amount of gear I need. My rack is about 55lbs.

Not to change the subject but the Thunderfunk amps have caught my attention. Hmmmm am I allowed to say that on an Alembic board.....

Hi paullee01,
To answer your question I have run it both bi-amped and full range. I have several other speaker and amp & power amp preamp combinations. I also have 4 original ALEMBIC 15' cabinets loaded with K 140's and an old SVT 8/10 and a PAS EV loaded 2/10 and other cabinets and Amps . Two of the other power amps that I like (I like them alot !) are a pair of Yamaha P-2200's. I use a variety of Active crossovers and Parametric EQ's to emphasise different frequencies in different settings. I have serious equipment GAS so I am always experimenting on new approaches and sounds with new and different gear. I have been experimenting with TRI- AMPED configurations lately.Every room has different curves so I like to explore different angles ! One of the things that I am always trying to avoid are problems with standing waves and phase cancelation . I have to be careful with 18's in that regard .

Sonicus thanks for the reply. (ALEMBIC 15' cabinets) I never knew Alembic even made speaker cabinets. Those must be pretty old. Going back to your previous thread about Gauss speakers I haven't seen one of those in years. I remember I put two of them in a Sunn cabinet and had to cut the hole bigger to fit them in. Tri- amped that sounds interesting....When it comes to gear I've been experimenting for the past 30 years. But I think I'm getting close.
