I can only use the 1/4" jack and it seems that only the top 2 positions are working (working from highest switch position facing neck, then turning counter-clockwise). What are the first 2 positions (the ones facing down)? Aren't they supposed to work too, even with the 1/4" jack? It seems that they might correspond to the bridge pickup because the bottom volume & tone knobs also don't work. Help! 9-) Photo below shows the switch. Could anyone hit me back ASAP! Thank you!, g g |

Exactly...the preamp is powerful enough to drive headphones and you should be able to hear one pickup in each ear. Some members without the DS-5 have used a splitter cable. This will help explain . Kris |

...and one of the switch positions turns both pickups off , so silence in that position is expected. |

Gerard: The pickup selector switch has 4 positions: Neck pickup/both pickups/bridge pickup/mute. The earlier Series instruments are all set up to run with one pickup only when using the 1/4" jack. Both pickups will work when using the 5 pin connector and the power supply. These can easily be modified to run both pickups with the 1/4" plug. (A search around the site should find this. It has been posted several times - later model Series run both pickups through the 1/4" jack). However, you will soon discover that Series instruments, when run using the 1/4" jack, have a healthy appetite for batteries. Most people use the power supply. Bill, tgo |
