Hi Sarah,

If you could post a picture, and be sure that it shows the knobs for the electronics clearly, then the group can probably tell you pretty quickly what you've got, and an approximate market value. Alembic models usually seem to be determined more by the electronics, than the shape of the instrument.

Hi Sarah.
David Burgess who posts to this forum is Alembic's authorised dealer in Sydney and I'm sure he would love to cast an eye over your bass and give you a fair idea of it's value. You can contact him via his website.

Sarah,
You can tell a lot from the serial number. For the style of bass you describe it should be in one of two places. Here is a link to the serial number decoder. It will tell you where to look for the serial number and what information is in it.

As Kevin suggested if you post pictures we should be able to give you an idea of the type of woods, body style and point you to more information.

Sarah,

Are you asking about the value so you can sell it?
I know that if it were brand new, it would easily cost over $10,000. Used however, Alembics lose value quickly. At 15 years old, even $2000 is a little optimistic.

Cheers,

P.S. I'd love to see a picture as well.

If you look on Ebay there are Stanley Clarke BB's going for well over 4K. Photo's are always welcome.

Hello Sarah,

A SC brown bass is going for around 4,000 pounds
in the UK nearly new. Check out

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Alembic-Stanley-Clarke-Signature-Bass-Unused_W0QQitemZ200434383675QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV?hash=item2eaad1fb3b

In Australia you could get AU$4,000 depending on the electronics.
If you post a picture someone here will let you know as prices vary for the electronics packages installed on any particular bass but
I agree with Graeme about contacting David.
