Yesterday, I asked Stanley if he ever was going to perform on tour with the "Dragon Breath Bass". He said, he didn't tour with the Dragon, because he felt nervous about bringing it out. However, he eventually said this Summer, he was going to play it while on tour. I asked other questions, and we also talked about the Toma_Hawk... Have you told him about Jimmy Johnson (especially the joining this forum part) :-) It's great to talk to the people who inspired you to pick up bass/guitar, in 2000 I spend a day with my all time guitar hero Rocky George (ex Suicidal Tendencies) and smoked some big cigarettes with him. A day to remember :-) If you ever meet Jason Newsted (I gave up hope) please tell him 'bout my bass and also the JJ remark mentioned above  Way to go (again) Hal! | ||

I would love to think, My Toma_Hawk and future Jester bass had inspired him coming out with his Dragon Breath Alembic.  Stanley is only a man. What's with this hero worshiping... Only GOD is great. Anyway, we will see what Stanley does... PS, After I told Stanley I wanted to play his Dragon Breath Alembic, he told me flat out -- I would love playing this bass. (Heck who wouldn't...) I told him I wanted him to be one of the first professionals players to play, and sign my Toma_Hawk Bass. I would then seek other Past/Present Alembicans to do the same. Music is a journey to me to meet good and decent people (only) anyway. However, if I get a chance to play his Dragon Breath Bass, I'll have pictures and the digital film to prove it. I told Stanley GOD can make anything happen, so if it happens or not, I'll still be OK-Fine either way. We talked about the FUNK, and how I believed Disco marketing almost killed the industry and I making it my source of inspiration, to bring 70's FUNK back because I felt it ended prematurely for fad reasons. There's so much more there to explore for me musically... It was a cool discussion. I personally also met Bishop Tutu when I was in South Africa, and other dignitaries. Music can take you anywhere. I totally agree. The music industry erred in lumping disco with Funk. Disco was a fad. Funk is eternal high art. I am listening to "What it is" a compiilation CD with 60's & 70's artist playing mostly rare grooves. It is given me great bass lines to learn. | ||

I met AlDimiola,Lenny White and Stanley @ the meet and greet for the RTF Reunion concert in Phila at the Mann Music center 2 summers ago. I was about 3 months recuperating from rotator cuff surgery and Lenny asked what happened to me and I told him that I tore up my shoulder 10 yrs ago in college and just had it repaired, Lenny replied that he had his shoulder repaired about the same time I did but he had to do the tour so he decided not to wear the sling.Stanley asked me if the injury was a genetic thing and Lenny intervened by saying "didn't you just hear what he told me? He said it was from playing basketball!" Anyway, the show was excellent (I was in the front row) When Al took a monsterous solo he'd look over to me and laugh! At the end of the show, all of the guys shook my hand and told me to get well. I apologized to Chick for extending my left hand but he siad"it's cool man no problem"....George Howard (RIP) was a personal friend of mine. He played on "come take my hand" with Stanley. We both lived in phila.... Gerald Veasley is another personal friend of mine too..I remember him telling me that he started playing the bass (35 yrs ago yikes!!)A few yrs ago after his show in Reading I walked up to him and called his name, Gerald turned and hollered out my name and hugged me telling my friends that I was one of his inspiraions to play the bass.My friends looked in disbelief because they thought I was joking when I told them that I knew Gerald!!I have a few more stories to tell. | ||

I shook Bootsy Collins' hand, took a picture with him, and slipped him our CD while in Cincinnati for the MidPoint Music Festival. Unfortunately my drummer was the one taking the picture, and he closed my phone before saving it. We told our friend Freekbass about that, and he was like, "Oh, don't sweat it, I'm sure you'll get to meet him again." Easy for you to say, Freekbass- you're friends with him, LMAO! I got to touch Albert Collin's Telecaster. Years ago it was in for a string change at South Austin Music and the late Danny Thorpe had it on his bench. I was in awe and I asked him if I could touch it! I also wanted to know what pickup was under the chrome Tele bridge cover that Albert always left on. It was just the stock Tele bridge pickup. He was playing Antone's later that evening. I also touched Albert King's Lucy Flying V that Dan Erlewine built for him. This was back in 1982 at Michael Stevens shop on East 12 Street. | ||

Me and wife had dinner with Stevie Wonder and his wife in San Francisco. They were a table across from us, and before you know it his wife and mine started talking and before you know it, we were asked to join them. I'll never forget it for the rest of my life.
