Hey All, I have a vintage F2-B (serial # 712) which needs to have the high impedance input jacks replaced. These are the ones which switch a resistor in to give a drop in sensitivity, etc. The trouble is I cannot find a Switchcraft (or any other brand) which accepts a mono signal and SWITCHES OPEN. There are several which will close a switch, but nothing like the original unit, which opens a single switch. Can ANYONE tell me where to find them? I've looked EVERYWHERE!! Thanks in advance! |

Hey Jeff, I believe they still make all versions. Like this: http://www.switchcraft.com/products/jack-85.html or this: http://www.switchcraft.com/products/jack-90.html Pacific Radio (Hollywood / Burbank) or Electronic City (Burbank) might even stock them. If not, certainly Newark or Mouser online. Alembic may be willing to sell you one too but I think it's stock part so you should be able to find it... Jimmy J |

Hi Jimmy, No, none of those will work (I already ordered 3 and tried...) Thanks for trying though! The jack in question has an insulated 'nub' on the tip, which opens a circuit without effecting any other connection. I really have looked all over, at this point I'm kind of looking for what Alembic uses in the first place. I'd really rather not send it in for a repair I can do in 2 minutes. Here is a picture of the two input jacks on a channel. The one on the LEFT is the one which needs replacing

Jeff, I thing what you’re looking for is available at Mouser Electronics, (800) 346-6873 www.mouser.com, part number 502-13E (Switchcraft part). You can see its diagram in the Mouser on-line catalog on page 1152 accessed from http://mouser.com/CatalogRequest/Catalog.aspx then enter page number 1152 at bottom right. Looks like circuit diagram #4 will do what you need, and they have 25 pieces in stock. --Alan |

Thanks for the pic. That's a Switchcraft 13E - "isolated break". It's not represented in the drawings at the first linked page above but it is listed below. Here's a link to Newark: http://www.newark.com/jsp/displayProduct.jsp?sku=39F699&CMP=KNC-G10000675&HBX_OU=50&HBX_PK=SWITCHCRAFT+13E I don't know if they have a minimum order but at least it shows that the part is still in production. Oops, Newark shows no stock but Mouser has 25 available... http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Switchcraft/13E/?qs=sGAEpiMZZMvlX3nhDDO4AMssdw1fQHKNcxxrsmbWksw%3d (sorry, apparently links don't work while editing... D'OH!) Jimmy J (Message edited by jimmyj on February 25, 2010) |

I ~think~ that might be it! I thought I had already ordered the entire switchcraft catalog. Mouser is great! I'll try it, hopefully it's the one. Thanks! |
