Hi! Please, someone can suggest me a good P.A. for my F-2B preamp? I need a solid state P.A. to drive my 4x10" 600W mesa cab. I have no experience about P.A. so I need every kind of suggestions! Many Thanks! .M. |

I run my F-2B into a ART Pro Channel then into a QSC PLX 3402. Most folks on here seem to favor the QSC PLX '02 line of amps. They are light, transparent, and have a high damping factor. A 1802 in bridged mode would give you all the power you need for the 4x10. |

Hey, thanks! Actually I'm trying a Crown XLS 202. But I think it's not a good amp. Besides it goes on protection mode too many times! I've not problems about having enough power but about having a good amp that allowed me to play an entire live set! But If I can I will try a QSC! |

I have a 4x10 600w mesa powerhouse cab and drive that with an alembic F1X pre amp going into a QSC PLX 3420 power amp and it gives a great clean sound even at low volumes you get very good quality meaty sound. Jazzyvee |

Hi Marcio, welcome to the board! My guess is that your amp is too underpowered for your cab. The specs on the Crown XLS 202 are "200 watts per channel at 8 ohms, 300 watts per channel at 4 ohms, 400 watts at 8 ohms bridged". Generally you want an amp that matches up to or exceeds the requirements of your cabs. You didn't state whether your cab is a 4 ohm or 8 ohm cab, which is an important consideration in determining how much amp you need. My rig is powered by a QSC PLX 2402. Crown makes very good quality amps, but my guess is that if your amp is going into protection mode then it's probably too underpowered for your cab. If your cab is a 4 ohm cab, then you need something that will provide at least 600 watts continuous into 4 ohms. There are other factors to consider as well; but based on what you've told us, that's a good starting point. |
