Amp question

Author Message stanpz New Username: stanpz Post Number: 7 Registered: 5-2010 Posted on Monday, September 13, 2010 - 2:32 am:    I just purchased an Epic 5 string bass and plugged it into a 6 month old Ampeg BA300/210 amplifier. There is an obvious rattle when I play the B string at moderate to high volume levels. I took it to an authorized repair person. He tightened any loose screws on the outside and on the speakers. When he would press against the back heat sink or sections of the back of the amp the rattle would stop. He thinks the amp is just not constructed well enough for a 5 string. Is this a common problem with bass amps and 5 strings basses ? I gave it up because I wasn't happy with the tone. I played with my friend's band today and realized that I missed the B. If you want to make a trade, we can exchange pictures and work something out.
