Was wondering if anyone has the dimensions for an Alembic classic taper 34" scale 4 string neck (neck width at nut and 24th fret preferably in mm, depth from front to back, radius and typical string spacing)? Am I correct in assuming string spacing is typically approx 16.5mm and radius is 12"?

Some widths here:

Not sure about radius or standard front to back.
Keep in mind that (almost) anything goes as far as personal customization......

Hi Jimmy,

The reason I was asking was for reference; unfortunately I had to sell my custom Triple Omega a while back due to back problems but I loved both the bass and the neck. I'm currently having a non-Alembic (can't currently afford one!) custom bass built and would like the figures so we can work with them when addressing the neck profile etc.

BTW, love your playing and got to see you with Alan Holdsworth in Manchester a couple of years or so back. Would have loved to have stayed for a chat afterwards but unfortunately had to catch the last train home.

fingerboard 1.75 x 2.25 with a 12 in radius. Shape of carving varies depending on year and personal preferences.

Spacing is harder to answer, here's the long story:

scale length = 34
string dia. 1=.030 2=.050 3=.070 4=.090

at nut end:
fingerboard width = 1.75
treble edge allowance = .15
bass edge allowance = .15
string center 1 to 2 = 0.463333333333333
string center 2 to 3 = 0.463333333333333
string center 3 to 4 = 0.463333333333333
spacing between 1 and 2 = 0.423333333333333
spacing between 2 and 3 = 0.403333333333333
spacing between 3 and 4 = 0.383333333333333

at bridge end:
treble edge allowance = .15
bass edge allowance = .15
string center 1 to 2 = 0.67
string center 2 to 3 = 0.69
string center 3 to 4 = 0.71
spacing between 1 and 2 = .63
spacing between 2 and 3 = .63
spacing between 3 and 4 = .63
string edge to edge = 2.13
(projected) fingerboard width at bridge = 2.43

fingerboard width at nut = 1.75
fingerboard width at 24th fret = 2.26

Note that we calculate our spacing center to center at the nut and edge to edge at the bridge. You can't compare our .62" spacing to another maker who uses center to center bridge spacing. I inserted the typical string sizes we encounter for UK orders, so the spacing will change somewhat for larger strings.

Hope this helps!

Thanks Mica, I really appreciate that. Hopefully I'll be able to get another custom Alembic again some day in which case all this will be moot!
