When did Alembic start stamping "Alembic" onto their pickup covers? I've seen 81 Distillates with unstamped pu covers so it's presumably after 1981. |

Am I wrong or does 80-1575 have Alembic on the PU? As shown here; http://alembic.com/club/messages/411/24514.html?1140541536 Satinwood with a maple fretboard. slawie |

There's two different decorations on the pickups other than the plain versions. The 80-1575 shoes a molded "ALEMBIC" in block letters. These are castings of the master which was engraved, so the word is deep in the polyurethane. The gold version is a hot-stamped transfer of the Alembic script. These are on ABS plastic shells. When did we change any of these things? I don't exactly know. It's not something we record, so going by the pictures in the Showcase threads will probably get you at least close to the times we did it. Of course, you can always custom order with any pickup decoration you want, even things we haven't thought of yet |

811952 shipped with no markings on the pups. I think November 6th, 1981 was the birthdate. I've seen basses from late '82 with no markings as well. John (Message edited by 811952 on January 04, 2011) |
