Set-Up Guy in LA?

Author Message ox_junior New Username: ox_junior Post Number: 10 Registered: 3-2004 Posted on Monday, April 19, 2004 - 1:25 pm:    Anyone know of a good guitar repair in LA who can perform standard maintenance (set-ups, etc.) on Alembics? Don't want to hand my bass over to someone who doesn't know what they're doing. I know McCabe's and Westwood Music do good work but not necessarily on Alembics. Any help? I already set up an appointment with him and asked him about the Alembic - he didn't sound like he had too much experience with them but he was willing to take a shot at it. I take it the work he's done for you includes Alembics? Let me know. I usually have my basses set up here in Boston before I head out of town. My buddy Albie has John set his basses up which run the gammut from his original Tobias, to his Fenders and Warwicks. I've seen John's work as I'm sure you know it as well. I wouldn't have any reservations about having him work on my Alembics seeing what he's done with Albie's basses. Thanks, Mike musikill Member Username: musikill Post Number: 55 Registered: 12-2003 Posted on Saturday, April 24, 2004 - 5:06 pm:    I don't do set up as a profession - but I know how to do it and am very familiar with Alembic set up procedure - no different in principle but the hardware is different and you have to know what to adjust to get the set up corect. I'm in Orange County and wouldn't charge you if you wanted some help.
