Welcome! Did you get it? This must be the bass: And these the specs: No scale length and birthdate in the picture... :-( Scale will most likely be 35 inch (though the ad says 34,5 inch) And birthdate somewhere in '96 (my guess would be late August) |

WhooHooo! That is the one... I did get the bass, and thanks for the heads up regarding getting the info. It will be good to know the pedigree. |

Tyler, Congratulations on getting the bass! Did you receive the wood card that is also pictured above? If so, that is the same information that Mica will have on file and if not, it appears legible on the picture that Flip so kindly posted. Once the file is located Mica should be able to add the birth date and scale for you. Play it Healthy! Art (Message edited by artswork99 on May 31, 2011) |

Many thanks Art! Expecting delivery in a few days. I truly appreciate everyone's patience with this newbie Alembic owner. The woodcard will (expectedly) be the same one Flip pulled from the Ebay posting... I don't want to put Mica through unnecessary work on my behalf. I have seen references to Mica's spectacularity (yes, I do massage the rules of language into submission from time to time) throughout the Forums. Who is this Mica person? Again, thanks to all! |

Deepwood..Mica is the CEO of the company, along with her mom Susan and her dad Ron they are the Alembic family. If you want to know more about the Wickersham's then go to the Alembic website and read the history of the company, preferably the long one. We call Ron 'The Wizard' here, when you see his picture you will know why, he is the electronics magician of Alembic. Susan and Mica have worked on the shop floor so they know all about building basses and guitars. Unlike other big name companies, Alembic is unique for it's friendly and homely attitude to it's customers. Welcome to OUR world |

Terry, Flip, & Art- I am humbled & Grateful for the primer and this welcome. I was 11 years old and had been playing bass for a year when I first heard "School Days." Then in '78, while pilfering my older brother's record collection, I stumbled upon "Wake of the Flood" & "Europe '72." So Stanley, Phil, and needless to say, Jaco have been reverberating through me for a long time. Turns out I'll be traveling out towards Santa Rosa in a month or so- would be very cool to tour the factory. This coming Monday I'll meet the Alembic, if she is gig worthy from the git go, she'll be on stage next Friday night. Again, y'all are very appreciated. |

Hello All- Sorry for the long delay in updating. Again, y'all are SO appreciated. The Rogue shipped just fine and the woodcard matched, but the woodcard is fully intact- meaning neither the "Customer's Record" nor the "Alembic Warranty Registration Card" have been filled out. The woodcard is printed on blue colored cardstock. Should I be concerned about authenticity? The Rogue feels great, and even with the old, crappy strings on there, the bass could still ring! Though advertised as "mint," the bass needs fret replacement from #2-#7. So, the Alembic didn't make it to the stage last night, but it is in the hands of Mark Erlewine, arguably the best luthier of electronic instruments in town. Mark will be seeing if there are other issues I missed. The Ebay seller has not yet replied to my, "Hey, this is not 'mint'" Email. We'll see how all that works itself out. Thanks! |

The blue cardstock is how I received the build-card for my brand new bass about 2 years ago. That's the original. If you've got Erlewine working on it you're in great shape. His setup book (recommended by Joey here on the forum) is sitting on the shelf just behind me. Enjoy the Rogue! |

Hello Everybody! I'd like to keep this serial number request active to find out if this Rogue was sold to an individual or a store, etc. We wound up needing to replace frets 1-9. The pan pot is intermittent and will likely need replacement. I guess I can just order the part from Alembic to keep it "stock?" Any thoughts or threads to facilitate this process are truly appreciated. Gratefully, Tyler. |

Sorry to hear about the condition of the frets and pot- On the pan pot: try 'exercising' the pot as described by Mica in the link below. Hopefully that will cure what ails it? If not, have you checked the electronics cavity to be sure that all connections are solidly together and that the pot isn't touching the shielded portion of the cavity? http://alembic.com/club/messages/16271/16357.html?1107712343 |

Thank you Toby! I've been on the road for about a month- first thing I did when I got back was open the cavity, checked connections and the pot/shielding suggestion. The input jack seemed to have loosened & twisted over the years, possibly putting pressure on the pan pot or faulting a connection. Anyway, it now seems to be ALL THERE! Glorious tone! This upcoming week I'll be rehearsing with it- whoohoo! Lastly, I would still like the official word from Mica on the serial# request. I am most interested to find out if it was initially sold to Guitarcenter, another music shop, or an individual- and in what part of the country/world. Many thanks again to all in the forums. Amazing. Tyler. |
