When I release a fretted note on my bass, I'm getting a string buzz but not when I play the fretted note. I decided to go through Joey's setup and now the action is higher than it was before and the buzzing is still there when I release the note on a fretted string.

Any advice?
I've looked on the threads searching for buzzing strings and trus rod adjustments etc and not found any reference to this. Though many about strings buzzing when the note is struck.

May be your Neck is backbow, but I could bet that you have the first fret too high or the Nut too low

Is the string seated properly in the nut or saddle at the bridge? A single string, a couple or all of them?

All the strings seem to be seated fine on both nut and saddle and all the strings buzz everywhere on the neck.

I followed the advice on joey's thread for setting the nut height and that was fine. When I eventually got to the end of the adjustments for the neck relief at 3/16ths and 1/8th for the fret to string height at 24th fret, the buzz was still there even raising the bridge did not seem to get rid of it. This is the same on both my Europa and SC basses at the moment. Not checked any others. But I was wondering if i'm noticing it more because I have a bright sound on the bass due to having to learn some stanley Clarke tracks for an upcoming gig so I'm playing melodies as well as bass lines. If I take the top end off with the filter the buzz is not noticeable but the tone is wrong for the track.

Just a thought.

All three basses are doing the same thing?

When you say everywhere, do you really mean all four/five strings at all 24 frets? What strings / guages are you using? Can you hear it unplugged?
