Hey My Alembic Brethren!

I got great news from Valentino yesterday - my precious Alembic Small Standard S# 74 - 52 is on her way back from Alembic! She's been lovingly diagnosed and treated by none other than her Creator Ron Wickersham and is in tip-top shape. I had been having a shorting out problem with one of the pickups and was really afraid it might be going. Those circa 1974 pickups were completely incased in epoxy and there’s no way it could probably be fixed if it were damaged internally. Anyway, the gods must have been smiling on her because it turned out to be something different. I'm told by Valentino, Ron actually took the PC Board out and looked at it under a microscope to find that there were small particles of steel wool that had been left as the result of "someone’s" (i.e. my basses only OTHER owner!) careless repair work. Obviously someone wasn't using their head when they did that! Anyway 7 of the Boards FETS were blown so Ron ordered them and put them in himself. I am so honored to have had him work on it I can't even say. .

Also. . before I forget, a SPECIAL thanks goes out to our Brother Michael D (DELA217) for his VERY generous contribution of the vintage (and currently NOT available through Schaller) '74 Gold-Plated Schaller Tuning Gear - Man, you’re the greatest Michael! Ron put it on and my Alembic is now completely restored and ready for my band Glass' first new studio recording in 30 years! It will be released worldwide by the French Progressive Label Musea Records. I'll keep you all posted on that CD's completion and release dates. And of course Ron and everyone at Alembic AND Michael D will all get thank you copies so they can hear how great my bass sounds 30 years on!

You're the Greatest Alembic!

You know I'm going to have to make a slight correction to my post above - our Brother Michael D (DELA217) actually sent me TWO Gold Plated Schaller Gears. I had gotten two others before - one a chrome one from one of the Alembic Club Members (I'm sorry your name escapes me right now) but they we're for the wrong side of the peghead. anyway, if you identify yourself I'd love to send you the new Glass CD when it's done too!

Thanks to everyone who helped in this restoration!

Jeff
