Hi everyone! I'm a new Alembic owner as of April, 2011. I had a question as to what the top wood and headstock veneer are on my 1994 Epic 5-string. It has a mahogany back, maple or ash core, ebony fretboard, and 5-piece maple neck, with gold hardware, and brass bridge and nut. I was also wondering about the electronics configuration: 4 knobs, I think it's volume, bass, treble, midrange. Thanks for any help! |

Hi Tynan, congrats on the Epic, that it may lead you into lots of good music - and of course welcome to the Club! The top is not likely to be ash, probably maple. If you can post a picture, the members here are usually only too happy to hazard a guess. As to the controls, if it's the standard configuration, you have volume, blend (pan), bass and treble. A mid-control would be either a custom feature (as highly customized as Alembics get, a mid-control is still a pretty rare phenomenon) or an after-market modification. Enjoy! |

Ah, yes - the blend pot should have a center detent, but the bass and treble pots may not, although they do offer boost as well as cut. Check out the FAQ page on Epic controls. |
