If you could order ANYTHING you wanted (unlimited funds) TODAY(by tomarrow you'd probably change your mind several times) what would you order...be impulsive and don't overthink it.....that spoils the fun!

Wow what a question to realize...... I would probably go with the Signature Standard as a 5 string. Mahogany body, Superb Walnut top, ebony fingerboard. scale length not sure yet.. Well I like the idea of having the roland midi pickup as part of the electronics. With a hardshell case of course.

I think I would also get a 4 string piccolo bass with the midi option. probably a rogue model.

Man what a question. The more that I realize I have "unlimited funds," I would probably get multiple basses. I started off thinking that I would have to design my dream bass(1 of them), Which is hard in and of itself. But it would be a bass fest for sure. To be continued.....

If money were no object, and I was being impulsive and not over thinking it, I would get a backup exactly like my current Alembic. (It's pretty amazing the way it is.) If I were allowed to think about it, and over think it, I would put a lot of consideration into the possibility of a trem bar.

Its hard to not be practical, esp. When you've had to work so hard to acquire what you have.As for myself, I would have two. 1)Spoiler ,vermilloin body w/quilt maple top, hippie sandwhitch ,32" classic taper 4st. W/ebony and vermillion lams, P/J pups,EMW or Anniversary (I like things simple).Gold hardware, shell inlay(lots of color).2)same but lined fretless. I know not too crazy, but its what I'd want.

I've admired that one from afar...wonder why there aren't more Scorpions? We should start a thread to see how many are out there. They seem to be one of the most rare body shapes.

Mine would definitely be a MK Signature Balance K, 5er, Koa top, hippie sandwich, purpleheart and ebony stringers, abalone inlays, blue LEDs, omega heart cut at the bottom, brass logo no name, with my anagram inlaid in abalone at the 12th.

Oh... and a fretless, quilted maple top Epic 5er to be the counterpart to my fretted Epic 5. :P

I would very simply order a Series One five-string, and it would look like one of those axes from the 70's, with a light wood top over a dark wood back (probably maple over mahogany or koa) , deluxe laminates, point body, crown head. I would splurge on gold parts, though . . . . I'd have a clear poly finish, maybe have Bob drip just the slightest honey tint into it, that's all for me.

That point shape in the Series body has stuck in my head ever since I saw a picture of one the first time, 'back in the day'.

I'd have the RMC pickups retrofitted into my current bass (for MIDI), and I'd get this exact wood recipe:

http://alembic.stores.yahoo.net/noname2.html

Except as a Series II fretless 6 string in a balance (not K) body with a pistol grip. Since we're in the realm of not thinking about money-- I'd actually like the electronics from Yahya's big bass.

That bass ( http://alembic.stores.yahoo.net/noname2.html ) with Series guts would about do it for me. A fretted twin if money were no object, delivered in a Helio Courier on amphibious floats..

The Valentino II is based on an Essance. It has omega cuts on the sides and a nobby headstock. Val's has a cocobolo top and an ash body.I'm not sure the thread, but it was built around '02.

Crown-headstocked Spoiler, mahogany neck w/2 maples & 1 ebony, mahogany body w/ebony accent & BTC of "Rippled Satin" walnut, Maccassar ebony fretboard - no inlays. Series II guts (with wide-spread p/ups)+ B/M/T quick-change switches X2, bird-with-tail tailpiece, black hardware, inlaid shell logo w/black metal (or mebbe all metal gold), CW control, truss rod & HX covers, and a matching 12-string guitar (mebbe knobby for the 12). And I want the serial numbers in the ends of the headstocks.

Peter; "B/M/T quick-change switches X2"

Why not: B/LM/M/HM/T 5-way boost/cut (+9/+6/0/-6/-9) switches X2

Karl; Europa electronics come with bass and treble boost/cut switches. Each three way switch provides 6db boost, flat, and 6db cut. Peter wants to add a mid switch as well as the bass and treble switches, plus he wants a set of switches for the neck pickup and one set for the bridge pickup. So I've suggested that in addition to bass, mid and treble, he also add a low-mid and a high-mid switch; and that instead of three positions, he get five way switches with 9db boost, 6db boost, flat, 6db cut, and 9db cut.

I'm not seriously suggesting such a mod, just having fun riffing on his idea. :-)

I suppose, I would want a Classico; yet it would like not happen as I am not going to wait 3 years for one to be made.

It would have a Padauk core with Pernambuco front and back laminations and accent laminations of mahogany.

I forgot, for my fretless: knobby headstock, with the tuners offset (not symmetrical, i.e. they should look like a 5-string knobby would).

Since I've already ordered my dream bass, unlimited funds would cause me to order a 12 string (4 main strings w/2 octave strings adjacent like a Hamer B12L) but with Series II electronics, 35" mahogany/ebony neck with a couple of maple pins, quilted cocobolo top and back, with some silver leaf scripts on the front under the finish (my kids names) and side LED's of course, blue maybe. Dark nickel hardware all the way around.

It's interesting to see all the variation we come up with. Some elaborate (Series II plus +++),others not so much(given the "unlimited" funds, I would only go as complicated as EMW).Thank God for individuallity.Obviously what sets "Alembicians" apart......=)

I would definitely go with the Series II setup, but I would opt for the Master Volume and pan setup, rather than individual volumes and a master volume. I think I recall a series bass that s_wood had built that had that setup.

S II electronics
4 string, classic taper
I would go with Bob's custom Rogue shape
Mahogany body + maple top and back
I want color... would love a surf green or daphne blue body, but if the Mothership thought they could get a translucent stain that would show the maple a bit, I'd listen.
Maple fretboard with no markers
cream color pickups and humcanceller.
truss rod cover, backplates to be wood and match the body color
Elan headstock
Bird tailpiece (of course!)
Chrome hardware

Think that's it!

Money no object...... and wild thinking, I'd have a replica of Stanley's dragons breath but in addition have the dragon inlay backlit with slowly moving led's so that a light representing the flame moves from the dragon's stomach to it's mouth and when it gets there the flames flicker out if it's jaws controlled by sound to light so they respond when playing.

I'd also have the alembic logo and name back lit with leds on the headstock.

I would also like quick change bass and treble switches added to the series electronics as I find that much easier to operate mid song than turning knobs.

Yes, the Jeep in question was from my childhood. My father, rather cruelly I must say, sold said Jeep on the day before my 15th birthday.

The picture is of my mom, as is the quote. She typically says it when I've led her on another wild goose chase, which is as often as I can manage it.

I have no doubt that my mind will change month to month.Currently it would be; a Balance Point Series I or Anniversary, w/ quilted coco bolo to center, gold everything, gold mother of pearl ovals, gold inlayed shell logo, an inlay of Thor's hammer in a coco bolo fretboard, ebony lam omega crown headstock, and gold plated tophat knobs.Oh ,and let's not forget LED's in red on the side, amber in the frettboard!
