I recently sprayed my pots to clean them after 32 yrs of constant use,but now im experiencing a (electrical) buzz from my neck CVQ pot ,however the CVQ still works ,could it be it needs cleaning out do to the debris in spraying it? (,,,it wasnt doing this prior to my spraying it), ...... if it aint broke dont fix it,i agree!

The pots are sealed and really can't be cleaned with spray cleaner. Rotate the pot back and forth 20-30 times to see if you can clear any debris. Even though they are sealed, the wipers do wear and can be like dirt. When you rotate the pot back and forth, it gets self-cleaned.

Of course, it may be that after 32 years, the pot has finally work to the point that it needs replacing.

You should also check there are no other loose debis in the control cavity. If a chip of conductive paint gets in just the right spot, you can get shorts and all sorts of other problems.

On a slightly related note, I heard from a gentleman in Italy once that since his tech couldn't clean the pots with spray cleaner, he drilled down through the shaft into the pot to get the cleaner in there. Needless to say, he changed techs after this incident.

Now that was funny! Not to laugh at your disappointment wideload, but I was thinking the thread title was a little mis-leading;)

I don't get it. Did you think it had something to do with those hemp cone speakers?

And all these years I thought pot spray was what you squirted under the bowl every so often before company came over... I guess pot spray is what you call the sound the hemp cone speakers make...

Keavin, thanks - it's a great photo, and nice historical footnote.

But I've just gotta ask - are those the original strings???
