Please help on identifying model, year, opinions about this instrument. Serial is 86 4202 Is it a series 2? Any feedback would be helpful. Thank you. [moderator's edit: align images vertically] (Message edited by artswork99 on April 16, 2012) |

The 86 in the SN says it was born in 1986. The lack of a letter after the 86 denotes Series. The presense of CVQ knobs instead of Q switches, and the master volume, means Series II rather than Series I. That's the Balanced Omega body, which is not very common. Beautiful bass! The position of the neck pick-up logo, however, indicated that it is mounted 180° off. Peter (Message edited by cozmik_cowboy on April 16, 2012) |

cozmik..does it matter the PU is malaligned, I guess it doesn't since it is a single coil reading either side. |

I dunno - a friend of mine told me he put his p/ups out of phase by reversing one magnet (the out-of-phase tone changed with the volume settings of the respective p/ups); would this be the same? Someone who knows more than I please chime in! (That does not narrow the field much around here). The aesthetics of it would bother me, but that's just me. Peter |
