Ron (of course) could explain it best. For instruments that are not as quiet as you would like, and adjusting the null controls doesn't help (much), I would say the difference is night and day. It certainly was in the case of my bass. It is the module inside the control cavity with all the trim-pots attached to it. Later Series instruments (until 1999 or so) were all PF-6. I believe PF-7 is the standard now... Mica, is that right? With the control cavity open, it is easy to tell which you have. The number is etched onto the board.
