Hey Guys. .Bucky here (aka Jeff) checking in to say Hi. On this Thanksgiving week one of the things I'm giving thanks for is getting my sweet Alembic back this past year. What a stroke of incredible luck that my old childhood friend Mark saw past everything to let her return home. . so I now raise my glass to Mark - "Cheers Mate! And a finer friend and fellow there never was!" ALSO not to be forgotten are the many friends HERE at The Alembic Club like Michael who helped me with many tips, advice and even donated impossible-to-find 1974 gold Schallers. . THANKS GUYS You are the greatest!!

J

Hope you all have a GREAT Thanksgiving.Alembic 74-52. . Back in Play 2004

Hi Jeff,
I have to tell you that watching your bass' story unfold and Michael's generosity was one of the many reasons that brought me into this fold. For that, I THANK YOU.

Gobble gobble!

LOL. .yeah except this year the wifes decided the "Turkey" is going to be a cured ham! Which is fine with me. Usually I eat a ton of turkey and then just fall asleep(-; Thanks guys. . all of you. I *do* think there's a cool "Human Interest" story in good ol' 74-52's strange life. Maybe someday I'll write it up. It's inspiring these days when anyones dreams even come close to being realized. . not to get political here. And the rebirth of my band and getting My Baby back are more fortune than one man deserves. Again, I just want to say that part of the "great story" of getting this bass back is all of YOU and how you rose to the occasion when called on by an Alembic Brother in need. And this thread wouldn't be complete without mentioning ALL the great people at Alembic! Susan THANK YOU for your flowing, gentle, wonderful design of this bass - it truly feels like slipping into a fine glove when I play it, Ron THANK YOU for your genuis and your always inquisitive mind - taking the extra time to solve the mystery of why that one pickup wasn't working when I sent it to you - Mica for all your hard work and carrying on the wonderful, proud family tradition. And Val and everyone else there that I've talked to that have treated me and 74-52 like family. Happy Thanksgiving to you ALL!! The Beginning of a Love Affair - 1974

played(-;

Good to hear from you! I've been pretty busy with the new Glass recording - our first new studio effort in 25 years or so - and it's been pretty time-consuming. The Alembic had just *blown these engineers away*! I had Ron W go through it and get it "up to spec" and man does she sound great. So nice in fact, the boys are "letting" me add an actual Bass Solo to the CD!! My first on record. It's pretty weird actually but I like it. I tune the E String down to D and the G to an F# so the bass is in a sort of Open D Tuning and finger pick it like it was a Flamenco guitar, , it sounds very cool with stereo headphones - Man, the Tone is just unbelievable. I'm not sure but I think the aging of the wood on this bass has actually improved it even beyond the great tone it had when I bought it. It's warmer and more transparent in the upper and mid-range registers. But not harsh sounding - very very smooooth. . like fine 25-year-old Scotch. . .

Let me know if you'd like a copy . . that goes for anyone who reads this . . I can email a MP3 copy as an email attachment if one has a HiSpeed Internet connection.

And yes, Andrew. . I DO believe this Bass and I were "destined" for each other. Perhaps even my *one* True Love(-;

Jeff

p.s. Obviously my Wife doesn't read these. . .

Jeff, I remember a while back Mica explained that with age and a lot of playing, the cells in the wood change and account for the warmer tone. I would be happy to buy the cd when it's done, just let me know!

I'll keep you all posted as to the release date. .

Take Care and keep those Alembic Bass strings Hummin!
