Welcome! Post the serial number if you want detailed info from Mica ;-) (Can take while though) Looks like a (flamed?) Maple topped Orion with Essence electronics. (Message edited by fc_spoiler on November 23, 2013) |

That's a letter "O" W, not the number zero W. OW denotes an Orion bass. It was made in 1998 and is the 11,522nd instrument made by Alembic since they began manufacturing instruments in 1972. Bill, tgo |

cool, so it's an Orion bass. It looks just like an Epic but the head where the tuning pegs lies are different. Is that true? Thanks for the information. It is much appreciated. Timmy |

One more question. How much is this bass worth? Thanks again. |

It is an extension of your very being. It is a harbinger of deep seated emotions from the core of your existence. It is priceless. Although in some realms people will trade monetary amounts for such a fine vessel. . . In that case it is worth whatever a purchaser is willing to pay. I would venture a guess at $2,000 - $3,000. There are other people wiser then me that could probably give you a more accurate answer. I advise against selling it. I sold my zebra wood Exploiter over 15 years ago and still miss it dearly. |

it hurts me just thinking about selling because I've grown so attached to the sound. |

Hi Timmy, Here's what I found out about your bass: serial: 98OW11522 name: Orion model: OLB4 top: Flame Maple accent: Purpleheart pinstripe body: Mahogany shape: Orion neck: 3-piece Maple with 2 Walnut pinstripes scale: 34" long fingerboard: Ebony inlays: none side markers: bronze dots peghead: Europa 4 pickups: MXY electronics: "Essence" volume, pan, filter, mono output finish: satin natural polyurethane (oil-look) backplate: plastic hardware: polished brass originally made for: Bass Northwest birthday: May 13, 1998 The bass has 2 previous registered owners, the original in Washington state, and the second from California. It was made as a fretted bass, so the fretless conversion is not original. Pauldo, I love your message! |
