I recently got my first new Alembic, and I finally got a chance to test it out at a gig on a Friday night. It's a custom build (not ordered by me) with EVH body shape, East Meets West electronics, and a walnut top. I love this bass!

The store where I bought it set it up with Ken Smith Slap Master strings, sized 35- 95. I use TI Flats on all my Alembics, but I like the feel of these strings. I will probably leave them on until they wear out.

The sound and feel of my new bass is perfect! I noticed that my neck, shoulders, and back were pain-free at the end of the night, which is usually not the case! Definitely have a keeper here!

I don't have any good pictures to share yet. It's been cold and grey here for the last few days, and now it's starting to snow. Whenever I try to post pics, I always get the "file too big" message. Could someone resize and post a few pics for me?

Anyway, just wanted to share my joy with my Alembic family! Hope to share some pics and maybe a family portrait of my Alembics soon.

Very cool! That is a crazy cool bass, and if I'm not mistaken, it's the only EVH that was ever on display in the USA.

Email the pics to any moderator and we'll resize and either post or email them back for you. If you have photo editing software, try saving with jpeg at 8 or less and keep your longest side 600-800 pixels.

Thanks for the info and your offer to help with my pictures, Mica! Maybe I'll try to take some today. I'm a teacher, and I'm enjoying a snow day! We get just as excited about snow as the students do!

Rob, there are several free photo resizer services & software available online. Just do a search for photo resizer. I'm at work so I don't have access to the one I have on my computer but it was free & does a great job. I can't remember what the name of it is.

Thanks for the advice, Rusty! I was actually able to resize my pics recently, and I posted them in the Showcase Custom section. I would post a link to my bass, but I haven't mastered how to do that with this Mini iPad I'm working with. I really feel like my technological skills are dwindling fast!

Head over and check it out when you have a chance.

Happy New Year!

Thanks for the link!

Is there any way to tell if these pickups are Fat Boys? I like how they look, but I'm sure the size alone doesn't make them Fat Boys.

Can't wait to play it again at a gig. I have to settle on using my Distillate tonight; I am giving a "transportationally challenged" band mate a ride to the gig. My vehicle will be packed full, so I don't think that huge case would fit in with everything else. Maybe next time!
