I was interested in putting a set of Ken Smith Compressors on my Mark King Deluxe 5'er. The B string only comes tapered. Is it possible to use a tapered B string with the Alembic system? It seems that the string height(saddle) is not adjustable....only back and forth to adjust for intonation. Please forgive me for my ignorance, this is my first Alembic bass. Thank you.

You will have to change out the one saddle and cut it for the exposed core. These are in our online store for $15 each. You can always put the original saddle back.

If you find you are changing between exposed core and fully wound strings frequently, you can purchase a second bridge so that changing is easier (but it's a bit more pricey!).

Thank you so much Mica. By the way I live just a couple towns over from Gary Bordies, he is a friend of mine and he says hello, and I must say he has one of the most beautiful Alembic Mark King's I have ever seen. I have been playing bass well over 30 years and I finally own an Alembic, they are truly THE best basses on the planet earth. I am now saving to have one built for me.
