Hello there at Alembic, first of all, merry Christmas to you and yours! Well, I've just acquired a white, second hand Alembic 5 EVH signature from 1991 and would like to know its exact specs/data. It's this serial: 91evh6665usa Thanks a lot for your efforts Best regards from Germany Oliver |

Well done Spiritchaser, that looks a great bass. I saw it on sale on Basschat recently. From what I can see you have signature electronics in the bass and you can find out what that means here. http://alembic.com/club/messages/16271/16368.html?1320955206 The two switches near to the jack I can't be sure of but one could be a mono/stereo switch and the other, a switch for the side LED's on the neck but sometimes it is a standby/mute switch. If you do a search on signature electronics you will find a wealth of resources here to help you understand how they work and how many of us use them. Mica Wickersham will post the build record here at some point when her schedule allows. But patience is a useful virtue on that score. However members here are always willing to assist you if you have any questions. Jazzyvee |

Cheers for the info Jazzyvee! The bass has 2x vol, 2x filter, 2xQ switches (3position) and a standby switch. It's mono out only, uses one 9V battery and features 2 adjustable trimpots inside the cavity for input gains of the two PUs. I'd like to know the woods being used on that build though .. Seems there are 3 stripes going through the neck (purpleheart?) underneath the white. It has an ebony fingerboard and is quite heavy. A lot of neckdive, too. I just ordered some black Schaller tuners for it - hopefully they'll reduce that neckdive a little. Best regards Oliver |

Ok that configuration sounds more like Anniversary Electronics without the pickup selector switch. Purpleheart is probably the most common on neck through alembics so that would be a good guess but body wood. Can you see any wood showing in the cavity on the back or the truss rod cover, that may give you some clues to the neck wood. Maybe you could take one of the pickups out would show you a bit of body wood and top. Jazzyvee |

Just put on some black Schallers - minus 20 grams total weight now ;). Had a peek under the trussrod cover and there where three stripes of purpleheart and a blondish/beige wood surrounding them. Could be ash or walnut. Further, the trussrod cavity was signed by a guy called "Eric". Oliver |

And somewhere on this board, I recall seeing it was refinished in natural. This EVH is one of my all-time favorite Alembic 5-strings out there. **found it: http://alembic.com/club/messages/395/197383.html?1409445204 (told you it made an impression!) =) (Message edited by edwardofhuncote on December 17, 2015) [fixed the link] (Message edited by adriaan on December 17, 2015) |
