Hey guys am building a strat and have a set of Alembic Activator pickups (HSS) but no electronics. I presume I could use an Alembic Blaster to get some sound out of these pickups. But what about the vol, tone pickup selector switch?. Could i use passive guitar electrics with it and would they need to go in the circuit before or after the blaster?

I have also posted a request for Alembic guitar electronics in the Wanted section.

Jazzy:

I have an Alembic employee "shopnight" strat-like guitar that uses Alembic pickups and a Stratoblaster as the only active electronics. I'm glued to the TV today as it's a huge football day on this side of the pond - conference championship games with the two winners meeting in the Superbowl in two weeks. My 49ers kick off in a little less than an hour. After the game, or tomorrow, when I have time, I'll crack open the guitar and see if I can whip you up a wiring diagram.

Thanks Bill, I had a chat with Ron on Monday and he assured me that the blaster would be fine to power the alembic pickups. Interestingly he also said that the pickups can be used with standard passive guitar electronics but that the volume would be very low so the blaster would be fine for that. Also with or without the blaster I'd need to experiment with larger capacitors in the circuit to find the sound that suited me.
I have some bits to order from Mica this week so I will add a blaster to the list and hopefully some reasonably priced electronics will appear for sale soon.
