Stupidly after my gig tonight i put 3 cans of lager in the back of my rack case to carry back to the van. The intention was to then put them in my holdall for the journey home. Unfortunately one of the cans sprung a tiny leak and pushed about 1/4 of a can of lager onto the back of the above items. What is the best way to clean the lager out of the units before risking turning 240v on to them again safely?
Hopefully they aren't trashed. :-(

You know, i dont even drink alcohol so was taking the remainder of the back stage rider home to give away.
Grrrrrrr!!!!

First just take off the lid and look - see if anything got in the jacks. It might not have.

Take a look and see if there is anything near where the power came in. If there is something there, let me know. You can use some paper towels and blot up anything that is sloshing around if there is a lot.

Do not accelerate the drying process if it is wet in there. a warm oven (less than 150 degrees F) is the most you want to do. You must keep any liquids below boiling. But really, if you find liquid inside, post again and maybe some (painful) images will help.

Sorry you are going through this.

Hi mica thanks for your fast reply. Sadly I'm not home yet so cant check inside or do anything for a few hours. I think there is lager inside as it is showing around on the front of the f1-x and all over the jacks on the back.

Ok I took the back of both units and somehow the booze did not reach ny of the components it just ran round the edges of the units and. Small mount through the full range out so i wiped the small amount of fluid from the corners and exercised the jacks and pots but not put any power on to it yet. I will leave it another day to dry out in case any lager has got into anywhere I can't see directly.

Good fortune my be in effect here. I hope.

Here's hoping the Alembics are victorious over the Carlsberg!

I'm just glad it was Carlsberg instead of Guinness. It would break my heart to see any of the black stuff go to waste!

I've got my fingers crossed for your gear.

We'll I'm glad it wasn't Heineken because "..... Heineken refershes the parts other beers cannot reach"
I think the Brits here will understand that because it was the tag line for the Heineken commercials for years.

Well it looks like F1-x at so far has won the battle with the lager. I just turned the Pre-amp on and plugged it into the return socket on my Mesa boogie walkabout and it sounds fine. No smoke, sizzle, fire or crackling. :-)

Tomorrow I will turn on the DS-5 and hope that is ok.

Phew.

Good to read the good news so far , if all remains well perhaps the Larger will be chilled and consumed in celebration ? Perhaps an exception for the good outcome _____ :-)

Any sticky bits can be cleaned with metholated spirits and a cotton bud or rag poked by the dull end of a bamboo skewer.
The spirit naturally vaporises and leaves no conductive residue.
Do not use white spirits (dry cleaning fluid) it affects rubber and some plastics.

Oh how bad am I to leave this thread hanging. Everything is fine with all components in the lager vs alembic battle. Both the F1-x and DS-5 are working fine with no issues.
