I recently acquired a Series 1 medium scale bass with a Standard Point body. It's the one I've mentioned in my Serial Request post and the post relating to the bizarre "goop" in its electronics cavity. Business has been slow lately, so last night was the first time I got a a chance to play it at a gig (I've had it for a month). What a pleasure!

Before I had a bass with the standard point body, I always thought it would be to large and bulky for me. That is not the case. In fact, my EVH custom has a larger body than my Series 1! I was able to play a 4 hour gig using a 2. 5 inch leather strap without pain. No pain last night, no pain this morning. It has a medium scale neck and is relatively light, so the balance is perfect. And the sound...majestic, stupendous, thundering! I am very happy with this bass, and I think it's a keeper.

I've been playing the bass for a month at home, and I'm ecstatic over its performance at my gig. Fortunately, I have another gig next weekend. Can't wait!

Sorry for the rambling, vague post, but I know you guys would understand the joy of playing your new Alembic out for the first time. Enjoy the rest of your weekend, and have a great week!

Great story and a good reminder of why we keep coming back for more...

There's nothing like the rush that results from playing a new (or new to you) instrument with others for the first time and being blown away by it's performance - even if you had high expectations.

I've done many gigs with this bass since I originally posted this thread, and I continue to be amazed by the craftsmanship and versatility I experience each time I pick it up!
